Breast augmentation is one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures. At La Bella, it is our most popular surgery. Many women associate ample breasts with femininity and sexiness. If you are unhappy with your breast size, breast augmentation can greatly improve your self-confidence. Women also elect to have this surgery if their breasts have become smaller or have lost their firmness due to pregnancy and breastfeeding.
This can happen with any dramatic weight gain and loss. Aging is also hard on our breasts: as we age, our breasts lose their firmness, and sagging becomes a real issue. Sometimes all a woman needs to correct this problem is breast implants and not breast lift surgery. Depending on your situation, other options that may be considered are autologous fat injection (transferring fat from a part of the body where you don’t need it to your breasts), a breast lift, a breast reduction, or a combination of a couple of procedures.
Natural breasts are usually asymmetrical, that is, one side is bigger than the other, sometimes dramatically so. Breast implants or autologous fat injections can correct this. It is very gratifying for us to see how happy our patients are when we give them the breasts that they have always longed for, or give them back the breasts of their youth. Other procedures can be done at the same time as implant surgery: Dr. Dang can reduce the size of the areola (the darker skin surrounding the nipple), make the nipple smaller, remove “bra bulges” and so on.
If you are a young woman considering breast augmentation it is important to have an excellent surgeon. Not every surgeon can put in implants without damaging the mammary glands. We at La Bella Cosmetic Surgery advocate breastfeeding as the best choice for babies’ nutrition and a good way for mother and baby to bond. Dr. Dang always makes sure to protect her patients’ mammary glands even if they say they are not planning on breastfeeding or even having any more children.
Consultations at La Bella Cosmetic Surgery are free of charge. During your consult, you will be asked why you are considering cosmetic surgery and what you would like your outcome to be. Dr. Dang will examine you and discuss options based on your goals and your specific anatomy. In the case of implants, you will need to choose the size, silicone or saline, whether you want the implants placed above or below the muscle, what sort of incision you want, and so on. We will walk you through each decision.
